Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, has commended the Super Eagles for defeating the Falcons of Sudan.
Nigeria defeated the Sudanese side 3-1 in their second leg encounter in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.
Goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon gave the three-time champions a three-goal lead against Sudanese.
Atiku took to his Twitter page, describing Nigeria’s win as a gift to the remembrance of gallant armed forces.
His tweet read, “Textbook victory over Sudan. Well done, Super Eagles, @NGSuperEagles.
“An excellent result to celebrate as a country, and also a gift to the remembrance of our gallant armed forces.”
Nigeria are through to the knockout stages of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, following today’s win.
The Super Eagles had beaten Egypt 1-0 in their first Group D fixture.
