Nigerian legend, Austin Jay Jay Okocha has revealed one thing the Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen has not perfected in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Nigeria has beaten Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau to have a perfect qualification from the Group D of the tournament.
Egypt and Nigeria made it to the round of 16 of the tournament, while Sudan and Guinea Bissau will be on their way home.
Okocha, a master dribbler during his playing days, noted that coach Eguavoen has not been fixing players in their best positions.
He said for instance that Alex Iwobi should have been more functional in the No.10 role where Kelechi Iheanacho played against Guinea Bissau.
“I’d like to see the coach play players in their right positions,” Okocha said on Super Sports.
“Iwobi became a better player when he took over the No.10 from Kelechi Iheanacho.
“Kelechi Iheanacho is not a typical No.10. He is a top finisher. I can understand why the coach is playing him in that position because he can convert a half chance.
“I am really impressed with the general performance of the Super Eagles against Guinea-Bissau despite playing the second team.
“This shows that Eguavoen is blessed with an array of talents that are capable of reaching the final if well utilized,” Okocha, a former Super Eagles player told Supersports.
