Imo Grasshoppers, Safety Babes, Kada Queens, Seasider Babes and Lagos Seasiders, yesterday, won their respective matches in the ongoing Prudent Energy Handball Premier League holding at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
For red-hot Imo Grasshoppers, it was a fourth straight victory, as they overpowered Confluence Queens 28 to 20 in the women category of the premier league.
Defending champions, Adorable Angels, were, however, unlucky as they were stunned 27 to 33 by former champions, Safety Babes, in a close contest.
Kada Queens, on the other hand, subdued Bayelsa Queens 29 to 23, while Plateau Peacocks lost 16 to 21 in the last game in the women class.
As at press time, the only game played in the male cadre saw Lagos Seasiders defeating Tojemarine Academy 34 to 27 to boost their chances of winning this year’s title.
Matches continue today, matchday seven, as Niger United battle Kada Stars, Police Machine take on Confluence Stars, while Tojemarine Academy will square up to Kano Pillars in the men’s category.
Battles in the women category will see Confluence Queens clash with Seasider Babes, Defender Babes will try to outmuscle Bayelsa Queens, who are currently among the bottom three on the table, while Safety Babes, conquerors of defending champions, Adorable Angels, will battle high-flying Imo Grasshoppers.
