Former Aviation Minister and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osita Chidoka has told his Igbo kinsmen what they must do to have the political party listen to them in their quest to grab the party’s presidential ticket for the 2023 general elections.
Chidoka, who appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today, also used the opportunity to point out that the PDP was in a dilemma over the zoning of the presidency to any region.
The former minister said it is his earnest desire for the main opposition party to field a southerner from the eastern part of the country as its candidate.
He said the party is, however, standing in-between two tough options of either to struggle to regain power or embrace zoning to the detriment of winning the polls.
“PDP is in a kind of dilemma. Do we struggle to win power first or continue our zoning as we have done or do we continue with the zoning even if that candidate may or may not win the election?” Chidoka said.
According to him, “First of all, the Igbo people will have to bring out a candidate that can convince Nigerians, because Nigerians are not a party to these internal party zoning structures.”
