The former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has said that he would declare his interest in the 2023 presidential election if the Peoples Democratic Party zones the presidential ticket to the South.
Mr. Obi made this known on 1st February, via his verified twitter handle. He further emphasised that if the ticket is thrown open, Nigerians will here from him.
Obi tweeted ” Yes, I will step into the field to contest for the opportunity to serve this great country as President if my party, the @OfficialPDPNig, zones the ticket to the south. But if it is thrown open, Nigerians will also hear from me. -PO”

Recall that Obi was the Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general election, with Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential candidate.
