The Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth wing has taken steps to interface with critical ethnic, religious and social stakeholders across all geopolitical zones in Nigeria towards actualizing a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction come 2023.

The National leadership of the Ohanaeze youth wing, in a statement by the Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Udekigbo Chibuzor, disclosed that it has set up a presidential lobby committee/team to embark on a familiarization tour to other ethnic nationalities in the country, aimed at convincing and canvassing supports on the desire of the Igbo nation to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor come 2023.

The Ohanaeze wing named Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu and Chris Obiemenyebo as the chairman and Secretary of the lobby committee/team.

The Igbo youth group also revealed that the presidential lobby team/committee is saddled with the responsibilities which among others are to identify credible, reliable, qualified and highly saleable southeast candidates from across party lines who may be supported for the presidential election in 2023.

The Ohanaeze wing further disclosed that the team will initiate high-level engagements with relevant stakeholders across party, religious and ethnic lines, towards convincing them on the need to support an Igbo presidency of Nigeria in 2023; to mobilize support across different political lines towards ensuring that an Igbo is elected President of Nigeria in 2023; and to make quarterly reports to the national executive committee of the youth wing on progresses, challenges and strategies.

According to the statement which partly said, “presidential lobby team/committee will carry out assignments as may be assigned to her by the national executive committee in line with the Igbo presidency mandate. It will carry out other assignments as may be assigned to her by the National Executive Committee in line with the Igbo Presidency mandate.

“The Acting Leader congratulates members of the committee and encourages them to see this as service to their Fatherland”.
