The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Sunday, handed names of Presidential aspirants President Muhammadu Buhari should consider picking his successor from.

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Ohanaeze Secretary-General, said Buhari should consider the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu as his likely successor.

Isiguzoro made the call while reacting to Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Northern governors’ backing of a Southern Presidency.

In a statement he signed and forwarded to DAILY POST, Isiguzoro said by picking his successor from the Southeast, Buhari would ensure the unity of Nigeria.

Isiguzoro said: “Buhari and APC Northern Governors have shown that right decision on Southern Presidency has assuaged, soothe the nerves, responded to the anxieties and scepticism of the South and renewed the confidence of Nigerians.

“President should surprise the world with a choice that will cement the cracks on the walls of the country’s unity; this is a decisive moment for President Buhari to decorate himself in a place of dignity and admiration in the history of Nigeria by constraining his search for a successor among the Igbo APC aspirants to unify the country, Chibuike Amaechi, David Umahi, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and Ogbonnaya Onu are wonderful choices at the discretion of the President to leave a lasting legacy that will uplift him as a National Statesman in the same ranks of Great Zik of Africa, Obafemi Awolowo, and Abubarkar Tafawa Belewa”.

Recall that 11 Northern governors have advocated for a Nigerian president of Southern extraction.

The governors said such a move would foster unity in Nigeria.
